Since summer has come and gone. That means my birthday.....YAY!! and school starts.....GAG ME!!! and two of my babies will turn another year older...yay and SNIFF SNIFF!!!!
Well, I don't want to talk about any of those things so I think I will rewind and talk about things that I know happened but I don't know when because summer never came this year. Reread paragraph one, sentence number three.
So, at some point earlier we did some fun things. My oldest turned 8 as I mentioned in my last post and one of the presents he received was a slip-n-slide. We never had one in Colorado because we never had a yard with soft, cushy, grass and it just seemed painful with all the rocks and all, but here it is a little different. It has been a world of fun and a good way to water the grass from time to time.
We also managed to make it to critter fest. I think I have mentioned before that Clyde and Adelia gave us a year membership to the science spectrum for birthdays this year. Well, critter fest is a science spectrum deal. We got to see an elephant, camel, kangaroo, sloth, alligators, crocodiles, turtles, snakes, two lions (male and female), a tiger, and a white tiger (side note: did you know that that if you castrate a lion he will lose his mane and look just like a female.....), and then normal animals like kittens, goats, puppies......etc. It was fun and loaded with people.
We went to Colorado for a month and I don't have one single picture to prove it, but we did. Went to a wedding, kids had swim lessons (thank you Ms. Roxanne and Mr Bob), we all had check ups with the best Dr. in the whole wide world. Got hair cuts. Got introduced to the best drink I've had in a long time and I am very addicted to it thanks to a 15 year old young man. What is it you ask......well, I will tell you. Next time you are at Sonic order yourself a sweet tea with vanilla and cream and extra ice. That's right, and your welcome!! Worked on our trailer to sale it, went to the Archuleta County Fair, played with cousins, saw family, climbed trees.....etc.
The 4th of July was different this year. I am sorry to say you will not get to see the normal parade, carnival, firework pictures that you have come to love from the last 3 years. You get to see fun in Lubbock at Larry and Pat's home where we indulged in snow-cones and homemade ice cream. Oh, and what fun is surviving the unbearably high temperatures without a swimming pool to cool off in. Did I mention that this was the first year my kids got to buy and set off their own fireworks. Oh yeah......not legal in Colorado, but West Texans seem less worried about the forest burning down since there isn't one.
LOL, we have also been watching the afro-man painter. You know, soft spoken, Bob Ross. So, the kids had to try out painting their own pics. The baby managed to mainly paint himself.
So, not sure how all that happened without summer, but it did. Oh, and I am now home schooling two kids not just one. "A" informed me the day we left Colorado that he was counting on me home schooling him. Well that threw me into a tizzy. Considering that was August 8th, two weeks before school starts. Thought about, prayed about and questioned heavily my second born for a week. On Friday evening decided to do it. Ordered the curriculum on Saturday. Still waiting for it to come in so my kids get an extra week before we start......lucky us!! But, that is the flexibility of home schooling....Right?? As I told a friend, I am agonizing over it just a bit, but I think it will work out nicely in the end.
Now, I get to go turn 37 a week from today!! Wonder who will make me a cake this year since Adelia lives too far away! :)
Now just to get a little of that in the picture above before school starts.........:)
