Couch

Well, after 13 and 1/2 years of marriage, Zach and I purchased our first couch.  We have happily (except when we complained) lived with hand me downs and freebies all this time.  It is a hard thing for us to depart with seemingly large sums of money all at once, but it was time.  We got a sectional.  For the record, I DO NOT LIKE sectionals, but I have never lived in a home where a sectional didn't make the most sense.  That being said that is not why we chose a sectional.  We chose a sectional because of all the good lounge, snuggle, huggy, family fit on couch comfort that only a sectional can give.  To those of you that love a good sectional, sorry I don't feel your love for them, but I do feel the love of my children every time we sit down together on this couch and I hope they feel the love from me and Zach.  Overall, we are satisfied with the purchase.

It is my hope to get 10+ good years out of it and by then my kids will be 17, 16, 14 and 12 and snuggle time will hopefully be important to them still, but not like it is now.

We have also had visitors over the last two weekends.  First Michael came and saw us.  We love seeing Michael.  We would gladly move Michael down here with us if he could stand to leave his girlfriend, the mountains, his family and pretty much any and everything that means so much to him.  I guess Colorado can have him as long as he promises to visit!

This weekend Adelia came and stayed with us and like a goof I didn't take any pictures of her with the kids.  She did bring baby "R" a birthday present that he got to open.  The kids got to have a toys-r-us outing with her (only their second time ever to get to go to that store) and they came home with some goodies.  There were books read, lunch at school with my school boy, helping with home schooling with my home-schooler, shopping outings with the girls, soccer Grammie, game playing Grammie, sleep in our room Grammie and sooo much more.  Mostly, though, for me, I was just glad to have the company.  Life seemed smoother with her around.  Extra eyes, extra hands, an adult to have an adult conversation with, lots of love to spread around to everyone, etc, etc.  I about cried when she left because I realize how much I have apprieciated having her over the last few days.  I know there will be many more visits from Grammie.  Kendra, Casey and Clyde just better beware that I might just hold her for ransom next time she comes and refuse to let her leave us.

In other Ketchum news.  My oldest boy went to war with the face framing on the wall and his eye suffered for it.  Lessons to be learned in learning to be patient and not push past your sister trying to be the first to make it to the kitchen because sometimes you trip and face plant into the wall.  Luckily it didn't split open, but it came really close.  We received even more fun Valentines goodies from Grammie and Pappy and the weather has been crazy.  Good crazy, but crazy.  I just don't know what to do with these 80 degree days in February but I'll survive some how!!  :)

All this activity is so tiring.  If only his momma would remember to put him down for nap when it is his nap time then things like this wouldn't happen.  At least his sister takes care of him by putting his blankets on him.  Oh, to be a baby and sleep well wherever you land.  What was that like.......
